July Favorite Things (including a new restaurant with a playground)! | Round Rock Family Photographer

If you've spent even five minutes outside in Round Rock lately, you already know. It's hot. Like, why does the pool feel like a hot tub? level of hot. BUT despite the heat rolling in, July had some really good moments. Between squeezing in a little time for myself, finding new places for the kids to burn energy (like a new restaurant with a playground!), and getting excited for fall family sessions, it ended up being a month full of favorites.

So here's my little July roundup!!

Swimming is how I’m taking time for myself lately…

I've been making a point to add movement back into my routine, and swimming has been exactly what I needed.

As a mom, it's so incredibly easy to put myself at the bottom of the list. But spending even 30 minutes in the pool has been such a reset. It's quiet, it's refreshing, and honestly... it's been top tier.

So I’ve been making a point to make it happen.

Making the rounds to the splash pads…

If you're looking for something fun to do before grabbing dinner, I've found the perfect stop.

The Quarry Splash Pad in Cedar Park is an EASY family outing. It's tucked inside Wilco Park, has plenty of shade, and costs $2 (CC only!).

If you're planning a family day, I'd absolutely recommend making a splash here first! Also, there is a little train for the kids in another area of the park which is worth the stop!

Fall Mini Sessions are Open for Booking

I know... it's weird talking about pumpkins when it's 105 degrees outside but hear me out 😆

I am already seeing an uptick in family session inquiries, and the fall minis are already booking.

If you've been thinking about updating family photos this year, now is a great time to grab your spot before school schedules and holiday calendars take over. You can see available dates + times here.

A new (ish) restaurant with a playground

This is Cottonwood Creek Brewery in Hutto! We watched a world cup game here this month and it was the perfect set up. They have a fenced in (!!!) playground that you can view from most of the restaurant. It is a big pirate ship, so the kids were entertained for a lonnng time. Good food and brews - this is gonna be a staple! They’re closed on Mondays though, so just know that before driving over!

What Have You Been Loving This Month?

That's my July in a nutshell.

Swimming has been saving my sanity, The Quarry has earned a permanent spot on our weekend rotation, and I'm counting down the days until cooler weather and fall sessions.

And if you're already searching for your next Round Rock restaurant with playground, hopefully this little outing gives you one more idea to add to the list too.

I'd love to hear your favorites too. What have you been reading, watching, eating, or doing this month? Tell me your July favorites!
