Best Pools in Round Rock for Kids | Austin Family Photographer
Summer is officially here, which means my kids are asking to swim basically every day. As someone who used to be a swim coach and is now a parent, I'm always on the lookout for the best pools in Round Rock for kids. We spend a lot of time in the water during the summer, and over the years we've found a few favorites that keep us coming back.
If you're looking for a fun way to cool off with your family, here are some local spots worth checking out.
Chasco YMCA
The Chasco YMCA recently added a new outdoor pool, and it's quickly become one of our favorite places to spend an afternoon. The pool has a slide for younger kids, an older slide for bigger kids, an in-water volleyball net, and a splash pad.
One thing to know before you go is that it closes earlier than some other pools, so it works best as a daytime or late afternoon activity. If you're a YMCA member, admission is free, which is always a nice bonus.
Micki Krebsbach Pool
If you've lived in Round Rock for any length of time, you've probably heard of Micki Krebsbach Pool. It's been a local favorite for years, and for good reason.
The pirate ship play structure is always a hit with younger kids, and the slide keeps things fun for older ones. It's located near Round Rock High School and has that classic community pool feel that so many families love.
Best Pools in Round Rock for Kids
While technically not in Round Rock, I have to include Scott Mentzer Pool in Pflugerville. It's currently on our family's summer bucket list.
From everything I've seen, it's especially great for younger children with plenty of kid-friendly features and shallow play areas. If you're willing to make a short drive, it's worth adding to your list.
Creekside Pool
Creekside Pool is a great option if you want to make an entire afternoon out of your outing. Located in the Brushy Creek area, it has a baby pool, a diving board, and easy access to some of my favorite outdoor spaces nearby.
After swimming, you can walk the Brushy Creek trails, explore the creek, or stop by the nearby duck pond and playground. It's one of those places where you can just slow down and unwind as a family.
Rock'N River
If I had to pick one place we return to year after year, it would probably be Rock'N River.
It's smaller than a big waterpark, which honestly makes it easier with kids. Admission is reasonable, and I love that you can bring your own cooler, snacks, drinks, and wagon. There's something for every age group, from toddlers to bigger kids.
One of our favorite upgrades is renting a cabana. Having shade, a place to sit, and a little space to regroup during the day makes a huge difference. They also recently opened a brand-new expansion, which gives families even more to enjoy.
Honorable Mentions
A few other spots that deserve a shout-out are Quarry Splash Pad, Prete Plaza Splash Pad downtown, Lakewood Splash Pad in Leander, and Splash Shack if you're looking for an indoor option.
If you're trying to keep kids entertained this summer, hopefully this list gives you a few new places to explore.
These are some of our family's favorite spots, and they're a big reason we think this area has some of the best pools in Round Rock for kids.
PS: If you’re interested in booking a family session at a pool, this is a DREAM session of mine! We would use Swimply to rent a private pool and do a lifestyle session in the pool. If you love that idea, send me an email and we can chat details!
HAPPY SWIMMING!!!!
