A photo shoot at Lake Pflugerville was the perfect choice for this family's session! They hired me for family photos and their little guy's first birthday milestone photos, and we ended up with the prettiest golden hour light. This was my first time photographing at Lake Pflugerville, and I was SO excited about how beautiful (and photogenic!) it was!
Golden hour magic at Lake Pflugerville
We met up right at the peak of golden hour, and I couldn't have asked for a more GOLDEN, glowy look coming through the trees across the water. Yes, we had to dodge a few families having picnics on the little beach or walking their dogs, but nothing a little posing and Photoshop couldn't fix. ;) And it was a fun vibe to be out and about with everyone enjoying the slightly cooler Fall weather.
I really had so much fun photographing this sweet little family! For the one-year milestone photos, I brought my white blanket, and Mom brought the cutest little prop crown from home. We captured sweet portraits of their little guy, along with all those real-life toddler moments that happen when you let little ones be themselves.
He was also just starting to get steady on his feet, so we got to capture some of those early-days-of-walking photos, too! I look back at photos of my own kids from that stage so fondly, and it was really special to capture those memories for this family.
A little time for Mom and Dad, too
We ended the session down by the beach, catching the final rays of sunlight over the water. And of course, we made sure to get some photos of just Mom and Dad!
Because making it through that first year of parenthood deserves a little celebration, too!! I will never forget the sleepless nights, constant changes, and figuring out everything out that comes with a new baby. It's easy to forget to document the two of you along the way, so I always try to make that happen during our photo sessions together.
After our session, they stayed to enjoy a little picnic with their friends and family after the sun went down. Perfect way way to turn family photos into a whole evening together!
Why I loved this photo shoot at Lake Pflugerville
Now that I've photographed here, I'm already excited to go back! It's such a great option for family photos around Austin, especially if you want a little variety without driving all over town.
A few things I loved about this location:
Golden hour light: The light reflecting across the water was absolutely gorgeous!! Photographers are easily excited by lighting, and this was no exception.
Easy parking: Always a plus when you're hauling snacks, extra outfits, and a toddler!
Clean bathrooms (!!): Parents of little ones: you know this matters a lot haha
Lots of variety: Trees, greenery, open water, and a sandy beach feel that's hard to come by around Austin.
Dog-friendly: Bring your four-legged family member along, too!
If you're looking for a relaxed family session with beautiful light and plenty of variety, a photo shoot at Lake Pflugerville is definitely worth considering.
