Family-Friendly Places to Eat in Round Rock | Austin Photographer
If you’re anything like me, finding a good place to grab food, while your kids play, is a LIFESAVER some days. If you’re also always on the hunt for family-friendly places to eat in Round Rock…. hi… we should be friends.
Feeding the fam should not feel like another full-time job IMO. Sometimes a girl just wants to sit on a patio, order something you did not cook, and let your kids run wild without stress. No babysitter required. These are the spots that we’ve found reliably good. I’m sharing our go-to places if you want real-life friendly options that actually work with kids in tow.
Family-friendly places to eat in Round Rock:
Kerbey Lane Cafe
Kerbey Lane is a solid go-to, especially if you have a picky eater in the mix. The menu is huge, which makes ordering easier when everyone wants something different. Kids eat free on Tuesdays, which is always a win. The playground is small and best for about ages two to seven, but it is covered and the patio is enclosed. That alone makes it feel manageable. You can relax while still keeping an eye on things.
2. Mighty Fine Burgers and Chipotle Area (by IKEA)
This spot is great if your kids have energy to burn. There is a fenced playground and a big deck with lights, so it feels relaxed and social. It works well for kids roughly two to ten years old. One of my favorite things about this area is alllll the options. We’ve been able to get different meals from different places, and all enjoy dinner together. I’ve even seen people even grab food across the street (like In-n-Out!) and eat on the patio. It takes the pressure off everyone agreeing on one place, and the playground is always a huge hit.
3. Downtown Round Rock
Downtown Round Rock is a favorite for a reason. With Pretes Plaza nearby, kids can run around or splash in the water during the summer. In the cooler months, it is still a fairly enclosed area where they can move freely. There are plenty of restaurant options within walking distance, and the library nearby makes for an easy post-dinner activity. It turns dinner into an outing without adding more work for you. Or the old-timey candy shop is always fun too!
4. Blue Corn Harvest
Blue Corn Harvest does not have a playground, but it is still very family friendly if you time it right. Go early for happy hour when it is quieter. Kids eat free on Mondays, and the kids meals are generous (and even include gelato.. win win). This is a great place to practice sitting at a restaurant with younger kids while still enjoying good food and a solid happy hour.
5. IKEA Restaurant
IKEA might not be the first place you think of for dinner, but it works surprisingly well for families. Not only do they keep diapers in the bathroom, have comfortable carts for kids, and general make their space accessible for kiddos… but they host family-friendly events often! And kids eat free on Wednesdays. There are simple video games on the wall that little kids love, too. If you are an IKEA Family member, the free coffee does not hurt either. (I’ve definitely gone for a 3pm slump to get out of the house!)
6. The Salt Lick BBQ
The Salt Lick can be crowded, especially on weekends, but it is worth mentioning. The BBQ is great, and there is a fenced playground that gives kids space to play. If you can go at an off time, it can be a fun family meal. If you get the “all you can eat” option, be prepared to be absolutely stuffed though. You’ve been warned!
I hope this list of family-friendly places to eat in Round Rock sparks some new ideas! We all gotta help each other out, navigating these busy schedules and wild days of having little kids.
Should I share our favorite Austin or Cedar Park spots next?
