I knew her boudoir shoot was going to be special. She was drawn to my work for all the right reasons, and she brought her intuition and artistic freedom with her into the studio. And we created some magical images.

I love when girls get out their lingerie for their boudoir shoot after arriving at the studio…and it’s all black. Because I would do the exact. same. thing.
There is something so classic & sensual about wearing black in the studio. Forever a fan.
And listen, if colors are your thing, then bring those to your shoot for SURE! You need to wear what makes you feel good & most like yourself. I can get behind a nice bright neon piece, but I always find myself gravitating towards black lingerie haha. And I know, I know - that’s boring but I’m okay with it.
This lovely lady didn’t disappoint with the black lingerie. We started with her partner’s oversized button up for a personal touch (this was a wedding gift) , and then moved on to her black pieces.

As Fall quickly approaches, I gotta throw back to these Austin Summer Vibes. As much as I am ready for crisp mornings & oversized sweaters…I will miss these hot, sunny days by the water.
These poolside boudoir sessions were an incredible addition to Summer and I can’t wait to offer them again next year.
In the meantime, here’s some images to tide us over until the hot, sunny days return and we can hop right back into doing boudoir by the pool.
Is there really any better place to enjoy Summer than Austin?! We have the best summer-hawt vibes around. Between Barton Springs & Lake Travis, we have the such good places to cool off from the Texas heat. Along those lines, I rented this stunning, private backyard pool in the heart of Austin, and spent the afternoon shooting Poolside Boudoir Mini Sessions.

When you live in the heat of Austin, Texas and you’re surrounded by pools, you take photos there.
I’m gonna be honest: these poolside boudoir sessions are quickly becoming my favorite things to shoot. Give me all the sunshine, white claws, good music, and cool water.
These sessions are also perfect for women who aren’t quite ready for the full boudoir experience in the Studio. There’s no shame in that but dip your toes into the world of intimate portraiture with these poolside photo shoots (pun most DEFINITELY intended).

Today’s post we’re gonna talk about something that is probably socially not-cool to talk about. But we’re gonna do it anyway. One of the most common concerns I hear from girls is “how do I afford a boudoir session”. Let’s talk about it.
There’s no denying, booking a professional photographer is an investment. Especially when you’re also getting hair & makeup done, and wanting to shop for lingerie. It’s fair! I get it.
Let’s talk about some practical ways you can afford a boudoir session.
Book far out. Save your session with a low retainer, and schedule your shoot several months in advance.
Find someone within your budget. The market in Austin varies greatly, so do your research and don’t be afraid to ask for prices if they aren’t listed (just make sure to tell them you’re looking around!)
Look at what is included in the package. Some boudoir experiences offer hair & makeup in with a session fee, but the actual pictures are purchased later. Some are all inclusive packages for the prices you see. (This is the model I use!) Considering what is included will help you set a reasonable budget.
Book a mini or a sale. If a full boudoir session is just NOT in the cards for you financially right now - that’s okay! You can still get a taste of the boudoir experience through a mini session or a sale. I offer mini boudoir sessions a few times a year, and run sales as well. I hope this helps give ideas on how to creatively afford a boudoir session. They are pretty incredible experiences, and I don’t want anyone to miss out just because they can’t afford them.

Girls, let’s be honest: it’s all too easy to talk ourselves out of good things. Especially good things that feel risky.
Here’s some truth: booking boudoir is always going to feel risky.
We’re always going to have a thousand reasons why we should “wait”.
And listen, maybe you do need to wait. You know what is best for you.
But maybe... you’re just nervous. There’s just some unknowns holding you back. So let me share 3 reasons TO book a boudoir session from someone who literally walks women through this process all the time:
The way you see yourselves changes. Get this...after shooting a boudoir session, you start to see a different side of yourself. Even on days when you feel like garbage, you know there is this powerful, sexy, incredible side to you that can surface any time she damn well pleases. You can’t “unknow” that shit.
On shit days, you have tangible proof. We all have days where we feel like a super-monster-gross-o-crappy-person. Sorry to put it so blunt, but that’s how it feels! On those days, you can flip through your pictures and it’s an instant relief. It’s honestly just a practical tool to not get stuck in crap mindset mode when you’re feeling gross.
To find yourself again. Here’s the honest to god truth: life trips us up sometimes. Maybe you’re going through a transition….having a baby, getting a divorce, changing jobs...it can feel unsteady. Boudoir images are not just about sexy pictures. They are a time to get quiet. Breathe. Center yourself in the stillness. It’s one of the most powerful ways I’ve seen women step back into their own during a life transition. I’m so honored I get to be a part of that honestly.
I could go on, but those are my top favorite reasons to get a boudoir session booked. So if you’re weighing if this is the right move for you, remember to factor in these powerful reasons alongside all your doubts and fears.
