Overcast Fall Session in Round Rock | Austin Family Photographer
This overcast Fall session was one of my last shoots of the year, and it felt like the perfect way to wrap things up for 2025! We originally planned to meet on a parking garage, but the rain had other ideas, so we opted for a local park, and I’m so glad we did! Even though it was already December, the orange and yellow trees were showing off.
And because it was a rainy day, instead of sunshine, we got those muted clouds with all the cozy vibes. I loved it.
The whole session had this quiet, grounded vibe, and I felt like I was watching that one foggy morning scene from Pride and Prejudice.
This was a quick mini session, about 20 minutes total that we were photographing together. And it’s such a good reminder that you don’t need a long session to walk away with a full gallery with lots of variety. Especially when everyone shows up, trusts the process, and has some fun. We moved through a mix of family snuggles, playful moments with the kids, and a few calm pauses in between. Plus we got those “money photos” where everyone was smiling at the camera. Easy peasy.
Basically, this was an overcast Fall session that just worked.
Outfit-wise, Lauren (the mama here!!) absolutely nailed it. She went with earthy greens and neutrals, with lots of texture in jackets and layers. Everything felt cohesive but not too styled. Just elevated pieces that let them move, play, and hold their kids without thinking about it. This is always my goal when I help families plan outfits. I send you a full shopping guide and outfit guidance, but ultimately, I want you to feel like you.
Lauren is a local entrepreneur here in Round Rock and the owner of Mama Barre. We actually met through her barre classes, and it’s been so cool to watch her business grow. She was even voted one of the best adult fitness options in Round Rock for 2025 (!!!), which doesn’t surprise me at all. She shows up for moms in a big way, especially postpartum moms who are finding their way back to movement and joy. Her kids come along for every workout, and it’s a real community she’s building.
If you haven’t signed up for one of her classes yet, you should!
Having her, her husband, and their two littles in front of my camera felt really special. The kids brought so much personality, curiosity, and joy into the session. We had so much fun!
This overcast fall session is such a good example of why I love these short, guided family sessions so much. You don’t have to manage everything. You don’t have to direct your kids the whole time. You don’t even need perfect weather. My job is to lead, keep things moving, and hold the space so you can just be present with your people and have a good time.
